Welcome to the  Dara Hartley Art Project Archives,

a collection of my creative explorations, project work,

and ongoing series.

Vintage Travel Posters

This series reimagines vintage travel posters, reclaiming a visual narrative that historically excluded Black and Brown travelers. Blending historical research with contemporary design aesthetics, tools, and techniques, it celebrates Black beauty, joy, and the presence of Black travelers across time and place.

A diverse group of five makers pose in a workshop, holding handcrafted robots and creative projects. A Black woman in a red beanie smiles excitedly while holding a crocheted green plush and a small robot. Behind her, a man raises a wooden wheeled robot above his head, while others display their unique creations. The background features tools and a sign reading "Ohms," indicating a makerspace environment.

It's a Maker's World

It’s a Maker’s World is a global journey celebrating the creativity and resilience of women and BIPOC makers. Through visits to makerspaces, studios, and workshops around the world, this project highlights the artistry, innovation, and community spirit of diverse creators redefining traditional crafts and embracing new techniques. Each story is a testament to the power of making and the beauty of shared creative spaces.
